At WGA, we believe middle and high school should serve two purposes: (1) to prepare students for college & (2) to help students explore, choose, and expand their knowledge about potential career paths. Once students have reached a level of competency where we believe they are capable of mastering college-level work, we encourage students to enroll in junior college classes.
Step One: The student is tested to ensure competency in the class he/she wants to take in college. (For example, if the student wants to take a college math course, we will test to make sure the student has all the pre-requisite skills.)
Step Two: The student and his/her parents/guardians meet with WGA staff to organize the student's college success plan. For some students, an online course will be better while, for others, a regular attendance class will be necessary.
Step Three: WGA staff helps the student with the application and enrollment process at a junior college near the student's home.
Step Four: The student will take the class while receiving tutoring for that class at WGA. (For example, if the student is taking a college math course, during math class at WGA, the student will receive tutoring and assistance for the college coursework.)
Currently, 100% of WGA students are on schedule to graduate early and 100% of our juniors and seniors are enrolled in college courses concurrently with their high school education.
